Despite Canadian laws that make it a criminal offence to counsel or aid a person to commit suicide, the Right to Die Society of Canada has been freely producing and distributing a product called the Exit Bag.
The Exit Bag is a suicide/homicide bag made of heavy-duty plastic that has been designed for optimum effectiveness in killing people who wear the bag. It is distributed with an instruction booklet called "The Art and Science of Suicide." The bag can also be placed over the head of an unsuspecting senior or person with a disability.
The production and distribution of the Exit Bag directly threatens people with disabilities and other vulnerable Canadians who are pressured by "caregivers" to commit suicide, or killed without their consent, because they are considered a burden.
Statistics from the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention show that 95 per cent of all people who attempt or commit suicide are experiencing severe depression. Depression is treatable. Furthermore, recent research in Oregon has shown that nearly 90 per cent of people who request assistance in suicide change their minds after receiving proper care.
