Federal Election Candidate

Sam Savona of Toronto, Ontario, is running for a Member of Parliament position in the upcoming federal election as an NDP candidate for the Lawrence-Eglinton riding in Ontario. As a political candidate with a physical disability that affects both his mobility and his speech, Sam may become the first MP to enter Parliament using a power wheelchair.

If he gets elected on June 2, Sam says, "imagine what Ottawa would have to do by the next morning" to correct the inaccessibility of the House of Commons.

And, Sam points out, if the House were to be made completely barrier-free because of him, "that in itself would be one mountain accomplished."

Sam’s political focus is on the issues of child poverty and employment equity. He can be contacted by phone at (416) 596-0335, or by e-mail: samsavona@globalserve.net.
