Gardens of the Moon Is Mellow

By Sharon Mejia

"Gardens of the Moon" is Judy Norbury’s debut album. The album is a reflection of Judy’s life stories and personal experiences.

Her musical style ranges from traditional folk, to blues, to bluegrass. It also contains humour. For instance, her song, "Working Man," talks about the kind of man who makes her happy: a hardworking fellow who will stay home to cook and clean.

Although Judy contracted polio at a very early stage of her life, she has not let that stand in the way of her career and family. She has two daughters: Eliza, who is 17, and Belinda, who is 10.

Judy came to Canada from her native land of India at the age of four. She now makes her home in the valleys of the western Canadian coast, where she is a familiar and well-liked voice around the folk circuit.

With 20 years of writing and performing experience, it’s no surprise that Judy writes all her own songs, and has performed at many island venues and all of the Courtenay Renaissance Fairs in British Columbia.

"Gardens of the Moon" is easy to listen to. It is relaxing and mellow. For more information on where this tape is available, please write to Judy Norbury, R.R. 6, Courtenay, BC, V9N 8H9.

(Sharon Mejia is a student living in Scarborough, Ontario.)
