Landscape of Literacy and Disability
The Canadian Abilities Foundation (CAF) is proud to announce the recent publication: Landscape of Literacy and Disability by Ezra B.W. Zubrow, Marcia H. Rioux, Christina K. Spielman, Mihaela Dinca-Panaitescu, Gail Kunkel and Allyson Marsolais (ISBN 978-0-9737126-3-6).

This is a report that definitively shows, using easy-to-read maps, the wide discrepancy of literacy between those with and without disabilities. It provides a critical look at hot-spots across the country, underscoring the fact that this is a situation that urgently need to be addressed.
Difficult-to-locate statistical data is provided. The maps, created using Geographical Information System, enable researchers, social policy planners, educators and stakeholders to have an opportunity to look at a variety of factors associated with the unacceptable high rates of illiteracy among people with disabilities.

Important Survey on End of Life Services for People with Disabilities
The Canadian Abilities Foundation (CAF) is supporting Hospice Toronto in an initiative known as the Transitions Project. The objective is to help gain a greater understanding of the needs of people with disabilities as they deal with end of life issues. Hospice Toronto is inviting people with disabilities and those who care for them from across Canada to participate in the survey. Your point of view is needed and would be very much appreciated.
